Golf player Colin Montgomerie exploded in a fit of temper Thursday as he brandished his club at press photographers during the British Masters and demanded they stop taking pictures of him. The 39-year-old Scot's infamous short-fuse lit after his shot hit a bank and dumped his ball back in the ditch. Photographers moved in and said later Montgomerie had ordered them back and told them to stop taking pictures.
Montgomerie said: "They were taking pictures when I'm trying to concentrate on what I'm doing. They're meant to be professionals but they're amateurs." Aggrieved 'Sun' photographer Nicky Hayes disagreed with Montgomerie's account, however, saying: "We didn't take any pictures until after Monty had hit the ball. The only time we took pictures was when he was assessing his shot from the ditch. All the photographers here are experienced golf photographers and know when we can and shouldn't take pictures."
